Location
The Stewart Despatch Centre is located at 205 - 5th Street in the City of Stewart.
Work Force
The Despatch staff consists of the Secretary/Treasurer, who is also the Despatcher. The work force consists of four members and approximately fifty casuals.
Work Information
Orders come from Prince Rupert and Vancouver. Work Forecasts are displayed at the Union Hall.
Labour Orders
Employers place orders for labour requirements prior to established order/cancellation times by telephone and fax machine. Despatch slips are prepared manually for all orders.
Despatch of Labour
Employees obtain their orders by telephone. All qualified union employees are despatched prior to casuals. Work is assigned on an average hours basis. Qualified employees with the lowest average hours are despatched first.
