Location
The Prince Rupert Despatch Centre is located at 847 West 1st Avenue in the City of Prince Rupert.
Despatch Staff
The staff includes the Secretary/Treasurer/Despatcher and three relief despatchers who receive and process orders for the Prince Rupert area.
Work Information
Work forecasts are obtained from the Port Corporation and provided to employees upon request.
Labour Orders
Employers place orders for labour requirements, by telephone and fax, prior to established order/cancellation times. Despatch slips are prepared manually for all orders.
Despatch of Labour
Employees obtain their orders by telephone. All qualified union employees are despatched prior to casuals. Work is assigned on a low hours basis. Qualified employees with the lowest hours are despatched first.
